Reconcile records before a database cutover
A migration is not complete when a copy command finishes. The receiving team needs evidence that the right records and values arrived in the expected form.

Set up the record
Document field mappings and transformations before moving data. Identify required fields, validation rules and records that need special treatment. Work within the authorised access and retention boundaries of the project.
Use it in the workflow
Reconcile source and target counts, rejected rows and meaningful control totals. Investigate discrepancies rather than accepting a matching grand total alone. Keep the reviewer and evidence reference for each check.
Review and maintain
Rehearse in a test environment and verify recovery arrangements before cutover. This workbook does not copy databases, store credentials or guarantee data integrity.
Apply the routine with your own records.
Source and target schemas, sample records, validation rules and reconciliation owners. Start with a small working copy so the team can agree field meanings before adding its full record set.
Keep a blank master, nominate an owner and decide when the records will be reviewed. If the workflow needs automatic validation, shared permissions or integration with another system, treat that as a separate software requirement.
This guide supports the stated manual workflow. It is not a substitute for your organisation’s approved procedures or professional advice where required.
